What type of equipment do you repair?
Our service department is experienced in repairing a wide range of lighting, control, and atmospherics from brands like Chroma-Q, Prolights, Ultratec, Ayrton, ETC, MA Lighting, Strand, ROBE, Altman, Vari-Lite, High End Systems, Motion Labs, Martin, LEX, Elation, and Chauvet -- just to name a few!

Do you charge an evaluation fee?
Yes, when your gear arrives we will tech it before sending you a quote for the repair. If you decide to proceed with estimated repairs, the evaluation costs equal the 1st 1/2 hour of service. If you decide not to repair your equipment, then our modest evaluation charge is applied to each item.

Do you travel?
Is the project bigger than one or two items? Do you need repair to an installed item?
J-4 Design travels anywhere in the U.S. and in many cases can be on-site with in a day. Contact our Service Manager for details.

Are there labor minimums for repairs?
Yes, our labor minimum is one hour for repairs sent to our shop in Columbia, MD and four hours for on-site work. Please expect additional shipping or traveling fees should they apply to you. Our service page here lists are various rates.

How long will it take to complete my repair?
Once your repair is received our technicians will tech and provide a quote typically within one week. Please understand, J-4 Design continues to see extended lead times for parts on an extended list of brands and models which may effect the total time for repair.

Yes! Whether you are a house of worship, a music venue, an educational facility, or a production company that sends their rental equipment out on tours, we have the talent and know-how to keep your gear healthy and ready to go year-round. From cleaning dimmer racks to rigging safety inspections to fixture bench repair to anything else your gear and space may need. Contact our Service Manager for details on a contract that fits your needs.

I concerned about what my gear is doing.
If the fixture places anyone in harmes way or it is suffered a major malfunction please unplug it than give us a call at 410-878-6200!

We bought this fixture 10 years ago and now it's broke.
Depending on the make and model we may be able to locate parts for your repair, if we can't or if the cost of the repair would be greater than the replacement cost our Service Manager will contact you to talk about options and listen to your needs.

My theater has a bunch of conventional fixtures...
Do you need them to keep working or are you planning to replace them? We understand everyone isn't made of money and sometimes you need to keep older equipment running, at J-4 Design our service team can help keep it going while you work with our sales team to plan for the future.

The output of my mover is hazy or really dim.
Have you taken the covers off and cleaned the glass recently?
Dust naturally accumulates inside a fixture on fans or glass, frequently needing to be cleaned. Give us a call anytime for advice or to arrange a visit.
Do you use oil based haze?
Haze causes a list of issues from hazy or oily looking lenses to caking on fans which mixes with dust to reduce the life of a fixture. Keeping the inside clear extends the operational life.
